Below is
a screen shot of the top part of our Easy Form. Notice 4 main prices:-
HRT Win, TAB, Fixed & Exch. These are our rating and the real time
market prices. There is also a 5th price Risk Manager not displayed
which is a secondary check on our HRT rating.  Apart from the TAB
pricing, all these prices are used before making a Betting Exchange
recommendation. Notice the 3 Betting Exchange actions recommended, one
Back and two Lays.  These recommendations occurred because the 4
prices met a user-definable criteria (overlay & underlay percentages
etc).  In the example (about 5 minutes before the official race
start time),  Happy Talk was the recommended Back. Since Happy Talk
won the race,  there was a return of $217 ie $111 + $6
for the losing Lay bets and a profit of $100 on the winner (assuming we did not get better
odds - it is more than likely that the odds recommended were easily
exceeded).  Total exposure was $104 (Maximum
        Lay $94 + $10 bet) for $217 - a good profit. It's as simple as
refreshing the screen to check the next recommendation.

Notice that Tribella had a HRT rating of $11.40 and the Fixed odds were
comparable at $13.00, however, the Exchange was $24.00 and no bet
indicator was displayed. This is because Risk
Manager checked other parameters and decided it was not a suitable bet.

        FAQ

        1. Why does it not show Lay bets when a Lay should be available (when
        checking the Exchange market provided)?
This could be due to risk manager not allowing the Lay or more likely
because the Exchange Lay market does not show a possible match. Note
that the Exchange market on show is the Bet market and not Lay
        market.

2. Is the
        market re-adjusted for Late Scratchings?
We do a batch update every 90 minutes and pricing is recalculated at
this point in time. However, horses do get scratched from the stalls to
the barriers resulting in unexpected scratchings 10 minutes or sooner
before the race. Bets and Lays placed prior to the scratchings are not
disadvantaged as a fair adjustment is made, however, since our market
will still include these type of Late Scratchings after they are
scratched, the Bet Manager betting process should be voided. Phase 2 will have this as an automated
        process.

3. Does
Bet Manager take into consideration the commissions that need to be paid
        to the Exchange?
No, this needs to be removed from your target margin (currently fixed
in Phase 1).  It is not straight forward as most take the commission
on net profit, so the more horses you bet in the same race, the lower
        the commission on turnover.

        4. A Bet or Lay
possibility is displayed but the odds don't exist, What is happening?
There are various reasons why the odds no longer exist when you look,
for example you are too slow, changed bets, cancelled bets, bets matched
prior to display etc. For whatever reason, just refresh the screen and
        start monitoring again.

5. Horses
slightly out of the market just don't seem to be winning, what can be
        done?
Unfortunately Phase 1 has set rules, but in Phase 2, you will be able
to set what odds you want to bet on. In the meantime, set your own limit
ie "don't bet on horses where bets are less than $20".
However, bear in mind that if you are betting around $10 a horse, you
are looking for a win every 10 bets plus a margin of 20% minimum on that
winning bet, that is, on average lose $100, win $120.
6.
What should the target amount be?
This is fixed in Phase 1 at $100, but will be customisable in Phase
        2.  We recommend your bank to be 50x your exposure, so in Phase 1,
your Bank should be $5,000. There is no reason why you can't bet 1/2 or
1/4 of what we suggest and eliminate the bets under the Exchange minimum
bet. HRT encourages responsible punting, do not bet with any Bank unless
you are prepared to lose it.

7. There
are multiple Lays recommended in a race - do I need to Lay all of them?
No, you make the final decision to make any bet we just provide the
best information possible.  However, the more different horses you
Lay in the same race, the less your exposure.

8. Should
races with horses with 'no form' be avoided?
It is always best to avoid any races with horses with 'no form'.
However, a couple or less may be acceptable to you. We have some very
basic rules in Risk Manager to allow for horses without form. If you
choice to bet without Risk Manager, then you do need to be careful
(Phase 1 Risk Manager is on).
